Here's a little situation I have gotten myself into :) I was in the middle of finnishing a piece when I decided to leave it over night (the soldering was done, however, I didn't patina it), I know it's bad to do but I decided that ok a little more scrubbing is worth the extra 15 mins of sleep :). So the next day I get up scrub the solder well almost 1/2 an hour with steel wool (using copper foil method btw), so I decided to make a copper finnish, everything went as normal, came out as a bright copper (which I was going for) dried it polished etc. Then after 1 hour it started to change color to an antique copper (the black in my mind was comming from the oxidation from last night) so I scrubbed the patina off with wool and restarted. The finnished product was fine (bright copper), left it for 1 hour and again the black areas started to come back. At this point I thought , 'aww geez' :) anyway, decided I was going to be the winner in this contest and decided to get out the CLR and appied that. 1/2 and hour later it was once again, a bright copper. I left it for an hour, again out comes the black making it look like antique copper. Any ideas on how to keep the bright copper instead of the antique copper?
Wash procedure:
dish liquid: soft sponge and then go over with wool.
Nutra: gover over with a sponge and then with wool once again
Patina: simple quick brushes with a sponge
Neutra: with a sponge
Polish.
(I have also noticed that when the copper is bright if I touch it and leave my finger there for 10 seconds, the copper becomes darker in the area where I touched).
